Wrinkles - The full face skin surfacing
PRINT

New laser technology, has enriched the plastic surgeons methods to remove areas of damaged or wrinkled skin, layer by layer. The laser works by using laser energy to vaporize the upper layers of damaged skin at controlled levels of penetration. As new cells form during the healing process, a smoother, tighter younger-looking skin appears. The laser is most commonly used to reduce fine lines, especially around the eyes and mouth.

The chemical peeling for skin resurfacing is also effective but it has been defamed by the technology. For special cases, such as skin discoloration is impossible to replace it. For the skin discoloration the best results ever given are with the Baker formula-Chemical peeling. According to the famous plastic surgeon Dr. Thomas Baker and many other colleagues worldwide the results of the Chemical Peeling are better or at least similar to those of laser. Always according to them the laser works better for those patients who are convinced by the media before the consultation.

The above procedures may be performed on an outpatient basis using local anaesthesia after medication for complete mental and physical calmness. Hospitalization may be required for a period of one day. For more extensive resurfacing, on an anxious patient, general anaesthesia may be recommended. Mild swelling and discomfort may be experienced afterwards; however this can be controlled by using the correct medication.

There will be some crusting of the skin, but this will most likely be gone in approximately 6-7 days. The skin will be pink to red over the next 6 to 8 weeks, but with makeup this may be concealed in after 2 weeks. Some pinkness will remain for up to 3 months.

If some wrinkles are still visible after skin resurfacing, additional treatment with injectable filler may be required. For further information see Wrinkles-injectable fillers
